‘Gateway to practice’

Probation Service Officers (PSOs) work in a range of roles within the organisation and the ‘gateway to practice’ is generic learning to give you a good foundation for working as a PSO in any role.

Learning for your role

You then need to complement this with the specific learning needed to do your role well which is set out below. It is expected that you would complete this learning during the first 6 months of practice (with the exception of ‘Introduction to working with people convicted of sexual offences’). If you are working in a prison, your establishment may require you to complete additional training. Please discuss this with your line manager.

NB:  The links below will take you to myLearning.  If you are not already logged in you will be taken to the log in page. Once logged in you will then either be taken directly to the page you need, or for some learning you will need to click ‘enrol’ to see the learning or if taken to a page of resources you may need to scroll down to find the specific resource.
