Continuous Professional Development, Role Packs

My Team and I will have access to continuous professional development packs in this period which will enable easy identification of mandatory training, including uncontested breach training the first sessions of the contested breach training package, but also provides details of other training that may support our professional development. These packs will enable us to be responsible for, and keep up to date with our professional development, and allows me to support my team in my conversations with them about their development, aspirations, and career goals.

For example, if staff have completed their required learning, I can also see the learning for roles they might want to move into in the future. This transparent approach to our organisation’s learning culture, will help us to understand how we can develop and which roles my staff member may enjoy, or be best suited to in the future.

I will be briefed by the CPD team and supported by my regional learning team and I can see whether my staff are completing their learning via their learning record but also using our reflective practice sessions, which I will use to embed the learning.

As with my staff, it is my responsibility to update My Learning with all learning I do outside the civil service/My Learning platforms, i.e, Probation Institute or external accredited bodies. Any learning we do in Civil Service Learning, will automatically update our My Learning record and soon, we will be able to record additional learning under the identified learning pathways for our role. If someone joins my team from another role, and their mandatory learning is up to date, they will only need to complete any additional learning specific to their new role. They may also undertake further desirable learning depending on their learning needs and interests.

I will need to inform my team of the briefing available on 6th of April, and again in June.
