Improving sentence management and integrating electronic monitoring
As part of reforms we’ll be strengthening sentence management to supervise people on probation in the community more rigorously. We’ll utilise Integrated Offender Management and Electronic Monitoring to drive compliance with probation conditions and teach the kind of self-discipline that is crucial to successful lifestyles.
This will be underpinned by recruiting additional probation staff to reduce caseload numbers and deliver in line with new National Standards. We’ll also embrace new approaches to the supervision of people on probation in the community via the adoption of a blended model, combining face-to-face contact and utilising different modes of technology to maximise the rigorous and disciplined delivery of sentence management.
