UNISON

UNISON is the UK’s biggest trade union and one of the three unions recognised by the Probation Service (PS) for the purposes of collective bargaining. Our recognition agreement is for staff in pay bands 1-6.

UNISON has a long history of representing probation workers, and we have the knowledge and experience to deal with the issues that affect you. As a member, you can get help and advice from our local reps, who also work for the PS.

UNISON regional and national officials support our probation branches and negotiate on your pay and conditions directly with the PS.

UNISON has a Probation Service Committee where regional PS reps meet to agree our negotiating and campaigning priorities on behalf of members.

Tackling discrimination and promoting equality are core parts of our work.

UNISON members with questions about the transfer should speak with their UNISON branch in the first instance.

Non-trade union members can join UNISON here: https://join.unison.org.uk/ or call free on 0800 171 2194.

We’ve been around for over 130 years and the one fact that has remained throughout that time is that GMB is run by members for members.

GMB/SCOOP is the union that has negotiating rights on behalf of management grades Bands A to D in Probation Services. Whilst we may have a smaller membership than the other unions in probation we pack a formidable punch and can at anytime call on the resources of GMB, one of the largest, most powerful unions in the country

We provide the specialist support you need to carry out your duties, we support you individually and fight for probation services at the highest level.
