Summary of Important changes to Electronic Monitoring

There are some changes within the electronic Monitoring space coming up over the next few months.

The introduction of the new PCSC Bill will give my practitioners additional authority to vary EM curfew requirements and change their PoP’s address without going back to court. Briefings will be communicated to me ahead of this change.

Alcohol Monitoring on License (AML) will be available as an intervention to directly support the management of alcohol related risk. In the background, starting in June a ‘proof of concept’ will trial in one region, to introduce licence variation for PoP including, where risk increases, an enhancement to EM, or other licence variations including curfews and exclusions. This won’t begin to roll out till 2023.

I can read about each of these changes in more detail in the Practitioner’s Role Map.
