Advice to Court

We’re strengthening probation’s effectiveness in court, including the improved quality and use of pre sentence reports to support more effective sentences and better outcomes.  This will help courts to set appropriate conditions that protect the public and victims and respond to the individual needs of people on probation to help drive successful rehabilitation.

We’re increasing the number of court staff and supporting them with improved training and systems, to ensure they are able to provide high quality, trusted advice.

The detailed design of these changes is underway, together with our court strategy and recovery work.  Staff will be kept informed about changes which may impact them and their team through their line manager, Probation News and their Regional Team Briefings.
