Role Alignment Update 21st April 2021

We are making good progress with the role alignment activity and we know that many of you are keen to hear the outcome. If you are unfamiliar with role alignment and what it means for you then you can read about it here. As you may know, roles can be aligned in a few different ways, some have aligned to NPS roles on an ‘accepted’ basis, which means that there is a clear and simple match to an existing role, whereas others have needed to be reviewed to determine where they align (which could be to the NPS, HMPPS or MOJ).

We are pleased to say that the list of the accepted role matches (the ones that don’t need to be reviewed by a panel), has been finalised and shared with current employers; who will communicate with their staff accordingly. The accepted match list covers the roles of approximately 6000 staff.

If your role is not on the accepted match list, please do not worry. It is a normal part of the transfer process for some roles to be reviewed before they can be aligned. The review activity is ongoing and we expect to communicate the results of the panels within the next couple of weeks. This communication will come from the NPS but will be sent to you by your current employer. If you have any questions about role alignment then please talk to your current employer in the first instance.
