My question or concern is…

Guidance on this can be found on myHub, at: https://hmpps.myhub.sscl.com/faqs/hr-faqs/grievance-FAQs

You can find policies on the HMPPS intranet pages here: https://intranet.noms.gsi.gov.uk/policies-and-subjects/policy-and-instructions.

Please be careful to read the policies that are relevant to you. If you search for policies on the MOJ intranet or the HMPPS intranet you may come across policies that are relevant only to MOJ or Prison Service staff, as opposed to Probation Service staff.

If you are covered by the National Agreement

As a transitional measure, you will be able to retain your CRC annual leave entitlement until the end of February 2022. You can choose to move onto the Probation Service annual leave entitlement if your pre-transfer CRC entitlement is less than this. This is so no one is at a disadvantage during this transitional period up to 28 February 2022. Please note that the Probation Service annual leave entitlement differs dependent on your years of continuous service. You can find out more about this here.

A calculator will be made available to help you to pro-rata your current annual leave entitlement and leave year to end on 28 February 2022. (Expected to be available from July/August 2021).

From 1 March 2022, CRC entitlements will cease to apply and the Probation Service Annual Leave entitlements will apply as set out in the National Agreement.

If you are not covered by the National Agreement

If you are not covered by the National Agreement, you will retain your pre-transfer annual leave entitlement and leave year. You will not be eligible for the NPS entitlements. Annual leave entitlements will be considered as part of the harmonisation with the Probation Service terms at a later date, subject to negotiation with Trade Unions.

You should book your annual leave directly with your line manager. This is a local process in the Probation Service and you should check with your line manager which process they would like you to follow.

There is no online portal used for booking annual leave in the Probation Service.

Annual leave which has been authorised by the previous employer prior to the transfer will be honoured by the Probation Service. Your line manager will not have a copy of your annual leave record as part of your transfer.

Transferring staff should ensure they can evidence leave approved by the current employer (and their leave balance) upon transfer. This can be any means e.g. email confirmation or leave card. It must in a format that will be accessible post transfer.

Those of you who transferred to the Probation Service on 26th June will not be eligible for the Queen’s Birthday privilege day this year as it has already taken place. You must be in post on the day the Queen’s birthday falls in order to qualify for the privilege day. However, you will qualify for the Queen’s Birthday Privilege Day when it falls in 2022.

If you transferred from a CRC, you will have the privilege day included in your total leave package under NPS terms in the 2022/23 annual leave year

If you transferred from a Parent or Supply Chain Organisation, you will qualify for the privilege day when it falls in 2022 which will be in addition to your existing legacy entitlements. (Unless your terms have subsequently been harmonised onto NPS terms).

The Queen’s Birthday Privilege day may be taken on either the Friday preceding or the Tuesday after the Spring Bank Holiday, in line with the NPS Annual Leave policy. (Further conditions apply)
