Key Worker Housing

Front line Probation Service employees may be entitled to take advantage of ‘Key Worker Housing’ schemes.  These initiative offers rental accommodation exclusively for key workers often at a reduced price (typically between 20%-35% cheaper) than average market private rentals.  There are also opportunities in some areas for key workers to apply for shared ownership schemes on new build properties.

Key worker housing schemes are available across the country. So far, we have focused our attention on schemes in hard to fill sites (PDUs within regions that have the greatest probation officer vacancy rates), many of which have higher costs of living.

NHS key workers sometimes have priority, however if you are interested and would like to find out more, please visit the relevant website below.  Properties are exclusive to key workers but will depend on availability and whether you meet the eligibility criteria. Some schemes also include payment of utilities and/or council tax.

For more information on key worker housing schemes available across the UK, visit your local housing association or get in touch with the local authority.
