Kent, Surrey and Sussex Regional Probation Director
“As the Regional Probation Director for Kent Surry and Sussex I am delighted to introduce you to the regional induction pack. I am passionate about the important work we do and am excited by what we can achieve for the communities and people we serve. Our staff are at the heart of our organisation and we remain committed to developing all staff. The year ahead brings a lot of change and exciting opportunities. The National Probation Service will unify with the Community Rehabilitation Company, enabling us to build upon the strong foundation we already have locally as well as looking for more innovative ways of working to support our supervised individuals.
The role of our practitioners who deliver the sentences of the Courts is to Assess, Protect and Change. By doing this our ambition is to provide effective, evidence-based interventions that meet the needs of the supervised individuals. Some of these interventions are delivered in-house, such as Unpaid Work and Accredited Programmes, and others will be commissioned through partners.
I am also committed to ensuring the rights and needs of victims are incorporated into all aspects of our work. Guided by the Code of Practice for Victims of Crime, we are proud to provide services through the Victim Contact Scheme (VCS) to victims of serious crimes.”
About our region
In the Region we provide services to 12 Magistrate and 4 Crown Courts. We have a diverse group of 13 prisons, more than 10% of the total prisons in England and Wales. Our priority in Courts is to provide quality assessments and recommend suitable and deliverable sentences.
