Release Planning Guidance for Staff delivering Immediate Resettlement Needs and Release Planning Activity

A guidance document has been designed to help teams/people who are continuing to deliver immediate resettlement needs and pre-release activity (previously TTG Services) in prisons.

At present, everyone is working to the new Immediate Resettlement Needs and Pre-Release EDM (include link) which replaced the TTG and ROTL EDM when it was issued on 8th July.  This guide supports that document and is for you, your colleagues delivering CRS services, prison staff and community probation practitioners (COMs).  The guide gives you more detail about your day to day tasks as you move from the ‘Recovery’ stages towards the implementation of National Standards later this year.

The guide explains what activity remains the same and what activity will have changed following unification on the 26th June, describing the longer term changes that will be introduced as part of the journey to End State in 2022. The Annexes at the end of the guide set out the roles and responsibilities across the Resettlement Pathways and also provide you with supporting information about Finance, Benefit and Debt to help you understand what your role is and how you can support people in prison in this area.

There is also a section targeted towards prison staff that can be downloaded and shared with your colleagues so they can easily understand the changes.

This document is an interim measure pending the drafting and publication of a Release Planning Probation Instruction which will be produced as part of the Resettlement TOM Implementation project.

We hope that you will find the information included within the guide helpful and will share with your teams.  The document has been divided into separated sections so it is easy to download, print out and share with colleagues for ease of access.
